What is inv.so?
inv.so is a simple invoice generator designed specifically for freelance designers, photographers, and creative professionals. It lets you create beautiful, professional invoices in minutes without accounting complexity. You can even upload your own invoice designs as templates.
How do I create my first invoice?
Sign up to start your 14-day Pro trial, add your business details and a client, then click "New Invoice". Fill in the line items, choose a template, and send. The whole process takes under 2 minutes.
How does the trial work?
Every new account starts with a 14-day Pro trial — full access, no feature limits. After 14 days you choose Starter ($4.99/mo) or Pro ($9.99/mo at launch pricing). We require a card on file at signup so your account stays active when the trial ends. You can cancel any time from your billing settings.
Do I need accounting knowledge to use inv.so?
No. inv.so is designed to be simple. There are no complex accounting features, chart of accounts, or double-entry bookkeeping. Just create invoices, send them, and track payments.
Templates & Customization
Can I upload my own invoice template design?
Yes! This is one of inv.so's unique features. Pro users can upload their own invoice designs as PDF or PNG files, then map the content areas to create a reusable template. Your invoices will match your brand exactly.
What invoice templates are included?
inv.so includes several professionally designed templates that work for most creative businesses. All templates support dark mode, multiple currencies, and look great on any device.
Can I add my logo to invoices?
Yes. You can upload your logo in settings, and it will appear on all your invoices. Pro users can also upload complete custom template designs.
What file formats can I upload for templates?
You can upload PDF or PNG files as invoice templates. The system will help you map content areas (invoice number, dates, line items, totals) to your design.
Sending & Payments
How do I send an invoice to a client?
Click the "Send" button on any invoice. inv.so will generate a pixel-perfect PDF and email it directly to your client. You can also download the PDF and send it yourself.
Can clients pay invoices online?
Currently, inv.so focuses on invoice generation and tracking. You can add payment instructions (bank transfer, PayPal, etc.) to your invoices, and clients pay through those methods. Online payment integration is on our roadmap.
How do I track partial payments?
Pro users can record partial payments against invoices. The invoice status will update to show "Partially Paid" with the remaining balance clearly displayed.
What happens when an invoice is overdue?
inv.so automatically marks invoices as overdue when they pass their due date. You can see all overdue invoices in your dashboard and filter by status.

What's included in Starter?
Starter ($4.99/mo or $39.99/year) includes: unlimited clients, unlimited invoices, all curated templates, client management, PDF generation, email sending, and payment status tracking.
What does Pro add?
Pro ($9.99/mo or $99.99/year at launch pricing) adds: custom template upload (use your own designs), custom branding, AI-powered invoicing, smart payment reminders, recurring invoices, partial payments, multi-currency, and cash flow forecasting.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime from billing settings. You'll keep access until the end of your current billing period, then your account will be paused — you can resubscribe whenever you're ready.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. If you're not satisfied with Pro within the first 14 days, contact us for a full refund.
Security & Data
Is my data secure?
Yes. inv.so uses industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) for all data transmission. Your data is stored securely on enterprise-grade infrastructure with regular backups.
Can I export my data?
Yes. You can export your invoices as PDFs at any time. Full data export functionality is available in settings.
Who can see my invoices?
Only you and the clients you send invoices to. Invoice PDFs are stored securely and accessible only via unique, private links.

How is inv.so different from FreshBooks?
